Guiyang

Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province in southwest China, has gradually emerged into the tourist limelight as one of the best cities in China for escaping the summer heat.

The city has a history of more than 400 years. Ancient Guiyang was rich in bamboo and was famous for making musical instruments. Guiyang was China's first national forest city.

It's generally recognized as China's second summer city (after Kunming), and prides itself in the thought of challenging Kunming for the title of China's Spring City (with spring-like weather all year round). The challenge can surely never succeed, however; unless spring weather is equated with wet overcast weather. But Guiyang, at an elevation of around 1,100 meters, is pleasantly cool and comfortable in summer.
